Many consider garlic to be an annual because gardeners typically harvest their complete crop of bulbs before planting new ones the following year. 


However, cultivators who make a habit of leaving a portion of their garlic bulbs in the ground are rewarded with perennial garlic. 

3. Radicchio

Radicchio is a variety of chicory with red and white leaves that form a head similar to cabbage.


The leaves of radicchio have a robust and slightly bitter flavor use them in salads and minced in pasta dishes and stews.
