Badgers HC Luke Fickell may play Nick Evers and Myles Burkett in packages

Wisconsin Badgers (5-4, 3-3) are preparing to face Northwestern Wildcats (4-5, 2-4) on Saturday at 2:30 P.M.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Braedyn Locke will make his fourth consecutive start, filling in for the injured Tanner Mordecai.

The team has two other redshirt freshman quarterbacks, Nick Evers and Myles Burkett, who haven't played this season.

Despite discussions about using Evers or Burkett in certain situations, Coach Luke Fickell decided against it for now.

The decision is influenced by the need to protect the football and the inexperience of the backups this late in the season.

Fickell acknowledges the offense's recent struggles and the potential need for more creativity to involve playmakers.

The coaching staff believes in the current quarterback plan as the best way to win football games.

Fickell recognizes the challenge of maintaining trust and avoiding turnovers when introducing inexperienced players late in the season.

While considering creativity, Fickell emphasizes the importance of finding ways to get impactful players on the field.

For now, Braedyn Locke will lead the Badgers as they aim for a much-needed victory on Saturday.
