John Lynch Earns Promotion As Part Of Contract Extension

The 49ers have given John Lynch a new job title in a contract extension announced in September.

John Lynch now holds the role of president of football operations in addition to his existing responsibilities.

His previous role as General Manager remains unchanged, and he continues to lead the personnel department.

John Lynch, who is 52 years old, started working with the 49ers in February 2017, alongside coach Kyle Shanahan.

The team announced contract extensions for both John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan on September 22.

This marks the second time both Lynch and Shanahan have received contract extensions.

John Lynch's new contract extends his role through at least the 2026 NFL season.

Before his management role, John Lynch had a distinguished career as a football player.

He was a nine-time Pro Bowl safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Denver Broncos.

In 2021, John Lynch received the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
